TRANSMISSION SERVICE
The automatic transmission fluid lubricates the internal components of the transmission and keeps it cool and clean. It also helps to maintain the hydraulic pressure needed to keep the transmission functioning properly.
The transmission fluid filter helps to keep dirt and other contaminants out of the transmission fluid. Changing the filter and fluid on your transmission regularly, keeps the transmission functioning properly and prolongs the life of your transmission.
We strongly recommend that you have your transmission serviced about every 30k miles to avoid costly transmission repairs down the road.
From 1997 onwards, Jaguar does not include any recommendations for transmission service intervals. Their premise is that their transmissions are sealed, so no maintenance is necessary. Not surprisingly, we have found an increase in transmission problems on many of these Jaguars.
Land Rover recommends fluid changes every 30k miles and a filter change only after the first 30k miles on most of their models through 2003 and on the Discovery through 2004. Most models from 2003 onward have either no recommendations on transmission service, or 10 year intervals. Again, we are noticing a marked increase in transmission problems on many of these later model Land Rovers.
Our normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:30pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00pm. You can contact us during these hours to schedule an appointment for service of your Land Rover or Jaguar at (310) 725-0075. |
